Tax payments up 3.5 per cent

From January to May 2003, distributed taxes totalled NOK 224.3 billion, an increase of NOK 7.5 billion, or 3.5 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 47.1 billion, a growth of 2.7 per cent compared with 2002. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme amounted to NOK 69.4 billion, an increase of 6.5 per cent.

Largest growth in Hordaland

Each county except from Oslo had an increase in distributed taxes compared with the corresponding period last year. The county of Hordaland had the largest growth - more than 13 per cent, while Oslo had a decline of 5.5 per cent.
