Upward adjustments of tax revenue increase surplus

New information regarding accrued taxes on income and wealth leads to a significant upward adjustment of General government revenue for 2009. As there are only minor corrections with regard to expenditure, the surplus increases from NOK 235 billion to NOK 247 billion.

Changes in the figures are mostly due to new data on accrued taxes on income and wealth and the incorporation of the finalised financial statements from health enterprises. The new information regarding taxes on income and wealth reveals an upward adjustment of corporate tax by NOK 20 billion. National tax on individuals’ income and taxes on income and wealth from extraction of petroleum are reduced slightly.

Incorporating the new information yields General government revenue and expenditure of NOK 1 346 billion and NOK 1 098 billion respectively. The surplus, measured by net lending, is now calculated to NOK 247 billion.
