National income exceeds NOK 2000 billion

Disposable real income grew by 4,1 per cent in 2007 compared to 7,4 per cent in 2006. National real savings went up by 2 percent. National income is estimated at NOK 2006 billion, an increase of 6,3 percent from last years estimate.

Behind the NOK 119 billion growth in national income is a strong growth in GDP and net wealth income. In comparison, the national income grew by 178 billion NOK from 2005 to 2006.

Disposable income for Norway, which corresponds to the national income minus net social benefits and transfers to the rest of the world, is estimated at NOK 1990 billion. This is an increase of 6,3 percent compared with the previous year. About 46 percent of disposable income devolves to households and non profit organizations serving households. High level of general government saving

Savings in Norway are calculated at 597 billion NOK, which is an increase of 4 per cent from 2006. 70 percent of total savings were general government savings in 2007. This is a slightly lower share than in 2006. Savings in the enterprise sector shows strong growth according to preliminary figures, and increased its share of total savings. Households and non profit organizations serving households are on the other hand estimated to have had a negative savings rate in 2007. It was slightly positive in 2006.

Strong growth in savings for enterprises

Preliminary figures for 2007 show that the level of savings in enterprises is estimated at NOK 191 billion, which is an increase by 25 per cent. Saving in enterprises is the cause of the total growth in savings as both households and the general government had negative growth rates.
