The institutional sector accounts record economic transactions of the institutional sectors in national accounts. Non-financial and financial accounts by institutional sector is updated quarterly in StatBank.

High saving for households

According to the preliminary national account figures for 2003, Households and Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (NPISH) had a total saving of NOK 56.9 billion, NOK 12.2 billion less than in 2002. Even though 2003 savings figures are lower than 2002 saving figures, 2003 saving is still higher than the general trends in household saving. The household sector had a net lending of NOK 30.8 billion in 2003 following NOK 40.9 billion in 2002.
