Increase in production of poultry

A total of 141 700 tonnes of meat from domestic animals were approved for human consumption during the first six months of 2008, an increase of 4 per cent from the same period last year.

All together 57 500 tonnes of pork, 40 200 tonnes of beef and veal and 40 100 tonnes of poultry were approved during the first half year 2008. Compared with the first half year 2007, the production of meat from poultry, pigs and sheep increased, while the production of meat from cattle decreased.
