Slight decrease in meat production

A total of 135 800 tonnes of meat from domestic animals were approved for human consumption during the first six months of 2007, 1 per cent less than the same period last year..

All together 55 900 tonnes of pork, 42 100 tonnes of beef and veal and 34 100 tonnes of poultry were approved during the first half year 2007. Compared with the first half year 2006, the production of meat from poultry increased, while the production of meat from cattle and pig decreased.
