Increase in meat production

A total of 137 400 tonnes of meat from domestic animals were approved for human consumption during the first six months of 2006.

Changes in meat butchered. 2005-2006*. 1st half year. Per cent

59 400 tonnes of pork, 43 900 tonnes of beef and veal and 30 400 tonnes of poultry were approved during the first half year 2006.Compared with the first half year 2005, the production of meat from pigs and poultry increased, while the production of meat from cattle decreased.
