Stable timber cuts and falling prices

A total of 2.1 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the third quarter of 2013. This is the same as in the corresponding quarter of 2012. In the same period, the average price per cubic metre of timber decreased by 9 per cent.

In the third quarter of 2013, the aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 615 million; 9 per cent less than in the corresponding quarter in 2012. According to preliminary calculations, the forest owner obtained NOK 293 per cubic metre; a decrease of NOK 27 compared with the third quarter of 2012. The average price per cubic metre of pulpwood of spruce and pine decreased by NOK 44 and NOK 34 respectively. In the same period, the average price of saw logs of spruce and pine decreased by NOK 19 and NOK 12 respectively.
