Less timber cut and falling prices
A total of 2.3 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the first quarter of 2013. This is 5 per cent less than in the corresponding quarter of 2012. The average timber price fell by 7 per cent in the same period.

In the first quarter of 2013, the aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 700 million; 12 per cent less than in the corresponding quarter of 2012. According to preliminary calculations, the forest owners obtained NOK 310 per cubic metre; a decrease of NOK 25 compared with the first quarter of 2012. The average price per cubic metre of pulpwood of spruce and pine decreased by NOK 45 and NOK 43 respectively. In the same period, the average price of saw logs of spruce and pine decreased by NOK 8 and NOK 4 respectively.
