Increase in roundwood sales and prices

The roundwood removals increased by 35 per cent in the second quarter of 2010 compared to the second quarter of 2009. During the same period the average timber price rose by 18 per cent.

A total of 2.1 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the second quarter of 2010. The roundwood removals increased in most counties.

Increase in value

The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 728 million in the second quarter of 2010 - an increase of 60 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter in 2009. According to preliminary calculations, the forest owners obtained NOK 344 per cubic metre, an increase of NOK 53 compared to the second quarter of 2009. The average price per cubic metre of saw logs increased by NOK 88, while pulpwood decreased by NOK 6.
