Increase in roundwood sales
A total of 2.2 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the first quarter of 2010. This is an increase of 14 per cent from the corresponding quarter in 2009. The average price of timber rose by NOK 29 per cubic metre.
Roundwood removals increased by 280 000 cubic metres compared with the first quarter of 2009. The removals increased in most counties.
The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 756 million in the first quarter of 2010; an increase of 25 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter in 2009. According to preliminary calculations, the forest owners obtained NOK 341 per cubic metre; an increase of NOK 29 compared with the first quarter of 2009. The average price per cubic metre of saw logs increased by NOK 62, while pulpwood decreased by NOK 24 from the first quarter of 2009 to the first quarter of 2010.
