Increase in sales of roundwood

2.1 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the second quarter of 2007. This is an increase of 10 per cent from the corresponding quarter in 2006. The price of timber rose by NOK 44 per cubit metre.

For the country as a whole, commercial roundwood removals increased by 10 per cent in the second quarter of 2007 compared with the second quarter of 2006. Hedmark had the highest increase with 137 000 cubic metres or 27 per cent, followed by Oppland with 33 000 cubic metres or 14.5 per cent.

The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry in the second quarter of 2007 amounted to NOK 763 million, an increase of 26 per cent from the corresponding period in the previous year. According to preliminary calculations, the forest owners obtained a price of NOK 357 on average per cubic metre sold, NOK 44 higher than in the second quarter of 2006.
