Sharp increase in timber felling

A total of 9.8 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood were cut for sale in 2014; an increase of 920 000 cubic metres from 2013. This is the highest quantity of timber that has been cut since the end of the 1980s. The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 3.4 billion in 2014.

Increase in average prices

According to preliminary calculations, forest owners obtained an average price of NOK 346 per cubic metre sold in 2014, compared with NOK 309 in 2013. The average price per cubic metre of saw logs of spruce and pine increased by NOK 62 and NOK 64 respectively. In the same period, the average price of pulpwood of spruce and pine decreased by NOK 9 and NOK 7 respectively.
