Stable substance abuse treatment

While the number of places within substance abuse treatment remained at the same level as in 2005, slightly fewer hospitalizations were registered. On the other hand, the number of bed-days increased by about 4 000.

The number of out-patient consultations rose by 25 per cent, and about 10 per cent more man-years was registered.

The figures are given by 91 institutions, about half of them owned by the government. The capacity within the sector was 1 799 beds in 2006, about 87 per cent are beds on agreement with a regional health enterprise. Totally, 87 168 out-patient consultations were registered in 2006 a rise from 69 655 the year before. The increase can likely be explained by better reporting routines.

Some discrepancies in the total figures are due to ability of reporting; cf. "About the statistics" in order to read more about data quality.
