Declining output in intermediate goods

Output in Norwegian manufacturing fell by 0.7 per cent from September to November 2008 compared with the previous three-month period, according to seasonally adjusted figures. This development is due to a fall in intermediate goods.

Production of intermediate goods fell by 3.5 per cent during the same period. Production declined in all sectors except basic chemicals. The drop in output can be partly explained by a fall in total building activity in Norway.

Small change in capital goods

Output in capital goods fell by 0.2 per cent in September to November 2008 compared to May to July 2008 after a long period of growth. Transport equipment contributes the most to this development.
