Growth in manufacturing

The output in manufacturing has increased by 1.5 per cent from May to July this year compared with the previous three months, according to seasonally adjusted figures.

The output in capital goods saw a 3.0 per cent improvement during this last period. This was due to the continued growth within the engineering industries, in oil platforms and modules and in transport equipment. Electrical and optical equipment have had the most significant growth in this last period.

The intermediate goods output declined by 0.8 per cent from May to July 2006 compared with the previous three months. Parts of basic metals and pulp, paper and paper products have had a drop in the output, while basic chemicals saw an improvement.

The output in consumer goods increased by 3.2 per cent from May to July this year compared with the previous period. Food products and publishing, printing and reproduction experienced a growth in the output.

Norway and the euro-zone

From June 2005 to June 2006 there was a 1.7 per cent increase in the Norwegian manufacturing output. The industrial production rose by 4.3 per cent in the euro-zone during the same period, according to figures from Euro stat
