Growth in manufacturing

The output in manufacturing has increased by 2.6 per cent from December 2005 to February 2006 compared with the previous three months, according to seasonally adjusted figures.

The output in capital goods saw a 4.2 per cent improvement during this last period. A significant growth has taken place within oil platforms and modules. These changes came from a high level of activity related to the Norwegian Continental shelf and to constructions and installations on land.

Growth in basic metals

The intermediate goods output had a 3.7 per cent growth from December 2005 to February 2006 compared with the previous three months. Basic metals saw an improvement during this period.

The consumer goods output has increased by 1.1 per cent from December last year to February this year compared with the previous three months. Food products and printing, publishing and reproduction have seen a growth in production.

From January 2005 to January 2006 there was a 6.3 per cent growth in the Norwegian manufacturing output. The industrial production rose by 2.5 per cent in the euro-zone during the same period, according to figures from Euro stat.
