Minor changes in manufacturing
There were only minor changes in the output within manufacturing in the first quarter of 2005 compared with the last quarter of 2004, according to seasonally adjusted figures. Intermediate goods and consumer goods had a slight drop in the output.
The output in intermediate goods dropped by 1.1 per cent, due to a decrease within the pulp, paper and paper products and basic chemicals industries. The wood and wood products and non-ferrous metals industries increased the production output.
Consumer goods
The output in consumer goods dropped slightly in the first quarter of 2005 compared with the last quarter of 2004. The output within food products decreased by 5.5 per cent, due to a decrease in the processing and preserving of fish and fish products
Capital goods
The transport equipment and electrical and optical equipment industries had an increase in the output during the last period. The activity within the oil platforms and modules and fabricated metal products industries had a slight drop in the first quarter this year compared with the fourth quarter last year.
