Growth in manufacturing

According to seasonally adjusted figures there was a 1.0 per cent growth in output in manufacturing from December 2004 to February 2005, compared with the previous three-month period. Intermediate goods and capital goods showed an increase.

The production of intermediate goods increased by 2.0 per cent in the same period, due to an increase within the wood and wood products, pulp, paper and paper products and basic chemicals industries.

Capital goods

The output of capital goods increased by 2.7 per cent from December 2004 to February 2005, compared with the previous three-month period. The engineering industries contributed most to the increase.

Consumer goods

The output of consumer goods saw a 0.4 per cent drop, due to a decrease in the output of food products.

The figures for January 2005 have been revised due to new information. The new figures are published with the figures for February 2005.
