Increase in manufacturing

Seasonally adjusted figures show an increase of 1.7 per cent in Norwegian manufacturing output in the last three months compared with the previous three-month period. This development is due to positive figures within the production of intermediate and capital goods.

The production of intermediate goods increased by 1.9 per cent in the last three-month period. The improvement within the production of basic metals as well as basic chemicals is a result of increased production capacity and increased demand in the export market.

Capital goods up 1.9 per cent

The production of capital goods increased by 1.9 per cent during the same period, mainly due to increased activity in the production of oil platforms and machinery and equipment n.e.c. Transport equipment also experienced increased production, although this increase was lower than for the two other major contributors.

Consumer goods up 0.8 per cent

Consumer goods experienced an increase in the last three months compared with the previous three-month period. This is mainly due to the positive development within non-durable consumer goods such as food, beverages and tobacco and publishing, printing and reproduction.
