Small changes in production

According to seasonally adjusted figures, the output in manufacturing has increased by 0.8 per cent from January to February this year, after a 0.8 per cent drop in January.

All the main industrial groupings except the energy goods have had a growth in February. The output in capital goods has increased by 0.8 per cent. Oil platforms and modules increased by 3.8 per cent, while the transport equipments have continued downwards by a 1.8 per cent drop. Oil platforms and modules have experienced a slight increase in new orders received during the fourth quarter last year. The output in oil platforms and modules is still lower in February this year than in February last year, according to the weekly-adjusted figures. Transport equipments are still quite negatively affected by the weak market situation for the building of ships in Norway, despite some minor improvements. The output in transport equipments has then dropped over 20 per cent since February last year.

Capital goods output

Machinery and equipment continues downwards by a 1.1 per cent decline in the output from January to February this year, according to seasonally adjusted figures. Electrical and optical equipments increased by 2.7 per cent. The output in capital goods in February this year is still lower than in February last year, according to weekly-adjusted figures.

Consumer goods output

The output in consumer goods has experienced a modest increase by almost 1 per cent during the last month. The output in food products and furniture has contributed to these changes, due to an increase of demand.
