There has been a 1.2 per cent decline in the consumer goods output for the period January to November 2002, compared with the same period in 2001, according to the weekly-adjusted figures. The reduction in the durable consumer output was mainly caused by a decrease in the production of furniture.

Increase in capital goods output

The capital goods output for the period January to November 2002 has experienced an increase of 1.7 per cent compared with the same period in 2001, according to the weekly-adjusted figures. This has occurred mainly because of the 9.2 per cent in the production of oil platforms and modules.

Consumer goods production decreased

The consumer goods output in the last 3 months has had a reduction of 3.9 per cent compared with the 3 months before, according to the seasonally adjusted figures. For the same period the durable consumer goods output has decreased by 6.0 per cent. This is partly caused by a reduction in the production of furniture and other manufacturing and recycling. The production of non-durable consumer goods has had a reduction of 3.6 per cent.
