Slight decrease in manufacturing

According to seasonally adjusted figures the manufacturing output has decreased by 0.4 per cent from January to February this year. During the last 12 months the manufacturing output has decreased by 1.1 per cent, according to weekly-adjusted figures.

Food products have seen a decline related to changes within the production of fodder. The inter- mediate goods output has increased related to an increase in the basic chemical output. Wood and wood products and rubber and plastics products have also increased in the production output. There are only minor changes within the engineering industries.

The last twelve months

The production output from food products has had a decline since February last year. This is related to the output in fish and fish products. The intermediate goods output is still somewhat weaker than the capital goods output. Oil platforms and modules have had a good performance during the last year. Pulp, paper and paper products have had a bad performance.

Oil and gas extraction

According to seasonally adjusted figures the Norwegian oil and gas extraction has increased by more than 3 per cent in February after a decline in January. This is mostly related to an increase in the exploring activity. The Norwegian gas extraction was bigger in February this year than in the corresponding month last year.
