Slight increase in manufacturing

According to seasonally adjusted figures, the manufacturing output from September to October has increased by 1.3 per cent, after a decrease from August to September. The intermediate and the capital goods output have also had an increase.

Changes in the food products have affected the manufacturing output the last months. This is partly related to changes in the raw material supply in the processing and preserving of fish and fish products - which have seen an increased output from September to October.

Intermediate goods and capital goods

An increase has also been recorded in the intermediate and capital goods output from September to October. Basic chemicals and basic metals and more significantly non-ferrous metals have seen an increased output. The situation for the rest of the basic metals industries is somewhat weaker. Most of the engineering industries have had a slight increase in the production output during October, but oil platforms and modules have had a slight decrease.

Manufacturing output the last 12 months

According to weekly adjusted figures the production in manufacturing declined by 1.3 per cent from October last year to October this year. This was partly related to a drop in the intermediate goods output. The capital goods output has increased by 1.2 per cent.

Oil and gas extraction

The output from oil and gas extraction and the exploring activity have increased by nearly 1.0 per cent from October last year. This is related to a low level of the exploring activity. The production of oil and gas has been almost 4.0 per cent higher than in October last year.
