Increased output in capital goods

According to seasonally adjusted figures, the production of capital goods has increased from June to July this year. Higher extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas has had a positive effect in the production of energy goods.

Some of the manufacturing industries improved the production in July this year. The capital goods output increased by 3 per cent in July. The metal goods, machinery and transport equipment industries have increased production. Oil platforms show a decrease in production, while the Norwegian Oil and natural gas output has increased 1.3 per cent, according to seasonally adjusted figures.

A slight decrease in industrial output

According to the weekly-adjusted figures, the total production in industry is about 0.7 per cent lower than compared with the corresponding period last year. Production of capital goods has increased. The production of intermediate goods decreased by 12 per cent.

Rate of growth

The weekly-adjusted figures for the total index from July 2000 to July 2001 should be interpreted carefully. It should be added that seasonally adjusted figures for July are - due to vacation time - normally considered to be somewhat more uncertain than figures for other months.
