Decrease in sales of petroleum products

Total sales of petroleum products ended at 754 million litres in August this year. This is a decrease of 6.1 per cent or 49 million litres compared with August 2013. Sales of most petroleum products decreased with the exception of kerosene.

In August this year, total sales of diesel amounted to 320 million litres. This equals a 0.9 per cent or 3 million litres decrease compared to August 2013. The average price of a litre of diesel was NOK 13.25, which represents a decrease of NOK 0.04 from August 2013. The price was equal to the price in July this year.

Sales of gasoline ended at 112 million litres; a decrease of 6.7 per cent, or about 8 million litres from July 2013. A litre of gasoline on average cost NOK 15.12. This corresponds to an increase of NOK 0.04 from August last year and a decrease of NOK 0.17 from July to August.

Other petroleum products

In August, sales of kerosene amounted to 109 million litres. Of this, 107 million litres were jet kerosene. Sales increased by about 4 million litres from August 2013. Sales of middle distillate amounted to 149 million litres; a decrease of 13.4 per cent. Of this, about 12 million litres were heating and lighting kerosene, where sales fell by 7 million litres. One litre of heating and lighting kerosene cost on average NOK 11.23. This is an increase of NOK 1.24 from August 2013 and the price was equal to the price in July this year.
