Decrease in sales of petroleum products

Total sales of petroleum products ended at 743 million litres in July this year. This is a decrease of 4.1 per cent or 32 million litres compared with July 2013. Sales of most petroleum products decreased with the exception of kerosene.

In July this year, total sales of diesel amounted to 292 million litres. This equals a 2.7 per cent or 8 million litres decrease compared to July 2013. The average price of a litre of diesel was NOK 13.25, which represents a decrease of NOK 0.06 from June 2013. From June to July this year, the average price increased by NOK 0.23. Sales of diesel accounted for about 39 per cent of total sales of petroleum products.

Sales of gasoline ended at 123 million litres; a decrease of 6.1 per cent, or about 8 million litres from July 2013. A litre of gasoline on average cost NOK 15.29. This corresponds to an increase of NOK 0.22 from July last year and an increase of NOK 0.32 from June to July.

Other petroleum products

In July, sales of kerosene amounted to 113 million litres. Of this, 110 million litres were jet kerosene. Sales increased by about 3 million litres from July 2013. Sales of middle distillate amounted to 162 million litres; a decrease of 2.4 per cent. Of this, about 14 million litres were heating and lighting kerosene, where sales fell by 8 million litres. One litre of heating and lighting kerosene cost on average NOK 11.23. This is an increase of NOK 1.24 from July 2013 and an increase of NOK 0.21 from June this year.
