Decreased sales of petroleum products

Total sales of petroleum products ended at 763 million litres in June this year. This is a decrease of 8.6 per cent or 72 million litres compared with June 2013. Sales of most petroleum products decreased with the exception of diesel and kerosene.

In June this year, total sales of diesel amounted to 336 million litres. This equals a 5.3 per cent or 17 million litres increase. The average price of a litre of diesel was NOK 13.02, which represents an increase of NOK 0.14 from June 2013. From May to June this year, the average price fell by NOK 0.17. Sales of diesel accounted for 44 per cent of total sales of petroleum products.

Sales of gasoline ended at 119 million litres; a decrease of 2.5 per cent, or about 3 million litres from June 2013. A litre of gasoline on average cost NOK 14.97. This corresponds to an increase of NOK 0.36 from June last year and a decrease of NOK 0.07 from May to June.

Other petroleum products

In June, sales of kerosene amounted to 110 million litres. Of this, 107 million litres were jet kerosene. Sales increased by about 8 million litres from June 2013. Sales of middle distillate amounted to 144 million litres; a decrease of 26.5 per cent. Of this, 13.6 million litres were heating and lighting kerosene, where sales fell by 4.6 million litres. One litre of heating and lighting kerosene cost on average NOK 11.02. This is an increase of NOK 1.70 from June 2013 and an increase of NOK 0.08 from May this year.

Decreased sales so far in 2014

During the first six months this year, the total sales of petroleum products amounted to 4 billion litres. This is a decrease of 373 million litres or 8.4 per cent compared with the same period in 2013. Both diesel and gasoline decreased, by 12 and 37 million litres respectively.
