Increased sales in January

In January 2013, total sales of petroleum products ended at 782 million litres; a 6 per cent increase compared to January last year. Sales of heating products increased with 31 per cent while and sales of auto diesel increased with 8 per cent.

Sales of heating and lighting kerosene and light heating oils amounted to 55 million litres, which is 13 million litres more than January 2012. One litre of light heating oil cost on average NOK 9.87; a NOK 0.58 decrease.

Sales of auto diesel amounted to about 39.5 per cent of the total sales of petroleum products in January and ended at 309 million litres. This equals an increase of 7.8 per cent or 22 million litres. Simultaneously, sales of motor gasoline decreased by 7 per cent and ended at 101 million litres; 7.2 million litres less than in January last year. Sales of motor gasoline amounted to 13 per cent of total sales of petroleum products.

Prices rose for motor gasoline and on average cost NOK 14.41 for one litre of unleaded 95 octane; an increase of NOK 0.05. The prices for auto diesel in January were on average NOK 13.03; a NOK 0.44 decrease.

Sales of marine gas oil and diesel amounted to almost 19 per cent of the total sales of petroleum products in January. Sales ended at 149 million litres; a decrease by 4.5 per cent.
