Small decrease in sales of petroleum products in 2012

In 2012, total sales of petroleum products ended at 9.5 billion litres; a small decrease of 79 million litres or 0.8 per cent compared to 2011.

Total sales of petroleum products 1995-2012, million litres

Sales of auto diesel made up 36.3 per cent of the total sales of petroleum products in 2012 and total sales ended at 3.6 billion litres. From 2011 to 2012, sales increased by 3.7 per cent or 128 million litres. The average price of one litre of auto diesel was NOK 13.22; NOK 0.11 more than in 2011.

Sales of motor gasoline decreased by 6.5 per cent and sales amounted to 1.4 billion litres. Motor gasoline made up 14.6 per cent of the total sales of petroleum products. The prices of gasoline were NOK 14.75 for one litre of unleaded 95 octane and NOK 15.24 for one litre of unleaded 98 octane; an increase of NOK 0.80 and NOK 0.82 respectively.

In total, auto diesel and motor gasoline made up 52.3 per cent of the total sales of petroleum products in 2012 and sales of the two products combined increased by 0.6 per cent.

The use of heating products declined by 17.2 per cent from 2011 to 2012 and ended at 384 million litres. One litre of light heating oil cost on average NOK 10.11 in 2012; NOK 0.41 more than the previous year.

December 2012

Total sales of petroleum products amounted to 730 million litres in December 2012, which is a small increase of 0.7 per cent compared to December 2011. Sales of light heating oils increased by 30.2 per cent and sales ended at 44 million litres.

Auto diesel sales increased by 8 per cent and amounted to 306 million litres. At the same time, sales of motor gasoline decreased by 9.6 per cent, and 103 million litres were sold in December.

Delivery days

There were 19 delivery days in December 2012, compared to 19 in December 2011.
