Decreased sales of petroleum products

The total sales of petroleum products in May ended at 741 million litres. This is a decrease of 6.3 per cent or 49 million litres compared to May last year.

Compared to May last year, sales of fuel to cars decreased. Sales of motor gasoline ended at 149 million litres; a decrease of 8.7 per cent or 15 million litres. For the same period, sales of auto diesel decreased by 6.6 per cent or 17 million litres and sales ended at 243 million litres.

Sales of heating and lighting kerosene and light heating oils decreased by 27.7 and 6.5 per cent respectively compared to May 2008. Sales of jet fuel increased by 3.7 per cent and marine gas oil and diesel decreased by 5.4 per cent.

There were 19 delivery days in May, compared to 19 in May 2008.
