Decrease in total sales, but more diesel sold

Total sales of petroleum products came to a total of 4.6 billion litres in the fist six months 2008, a small decrease of 1.5 per cent compared to the same period last year. However, the sales of auto diesel increased.

Sales of almost all petroleum products decreased the first six months this year compared to the same period in 2007. The sales of auto diesel is one exception. Sales of auto diesel ended at 1.5 billion litres, which gives an increase of 128 million litres or 9 per cent. For the same period of time, sales of motor gasoline decreased by 6.5 per cent or 63 million litres. Total sales of motor gasoline ended at 907 million litres.

Sales of heating and lighting kerosene and light heating oils decreased by 24.7 and 15.9 per cent respectively, compared to first half of 2008.

Small decrease in sales in June

In June 2008, 843 million litres of petroleum products were sold. This is a decrease of 2.9 percent compared to June 2007. Sales of diesel increased by 7.8 per cent this period, while sales of motor gasoline saw a decrease by 7 per cent.

There were 21 delivery days in June, the same as in June 2007.
