Increase in sales of petroleum products

Total sales of petroleum products came to 760 million litres in April 2008, an increase of 6.2 per cent or 44 million litres compared with April last year. One of the explanations for this increase could be that in 2007 Easter was in April, whereas this year it was in March.

Sales of auto diesel ended at 263 million litres in April, an increase of 21.9 per cent or 47 million litres compared with April 2007. Sales of motor gasoline decreased in the same period by 5.7 per cent or by 9 million litres. Auto diesel and motor gasoline accounted for 54.2 per cent of total sales of petroleum products.

Sales of light heating oil and heavy fuel oil increased in April compared with the same month in 2007. Sales of light heating oil ended at 3 million litres, while sales of heavy fuel oil ended at 36 million litres.

There were 22 delivery days in April this year, compared with 18 in April of last year.
