Lower sales of heating products

Total sales of petroleum products came to 739 million liters in February 2008, a small decrease of 1.5 per cent compared with February last year. Sales of lighting kerosene and light heating oil decreased considerably in February.

Deliveries of lighting kerosene and light heating oil decreased in February this year compared with the same month in 2007. Sales of lighting kerosene ended at 9 million liters, while sales of light heating oil ended at 44 million liters, a decrease by 40.4 and 35.8 per cent respectively.

Compared with February 2007, sales of auto diesel increased by 10.4 per cent and ended at 246 million liters in February this year. Sales of motor gasoline, on the other hand, decreased by 3.8 per cent. Auto diesel and motor gasoline accounted for about half of total sales of petroleum products.

Sales of marine gas oil and diesel, which account for 18 per cent of total sales of petroleum products, increased by 1 per cent compared with the corresponding month last year. Total sales ended at 130 million liters. Sales of jet fuel increased by 7.3 per cent and ended at 67 million liters.

There were 21 delivery days in February compared with 20 in February 2007.

Please note that figures for deliveries of petroleum products will not be published for March 2008; the reason being that a major oil company has not submitted their figures. The next release of these statistics is 19 May. This release will contain statistics for April 2008.
