Decreased sales of petroleum products

Total sales of petroleum products came to 722 million litres in January 2008, a decrease of 7.7 per cent compared with January last year. Sales of auto diesel increased by 7 per cent.

Compared with January 2007, sales of auto diesel increased by 16 million litres to a total of 245 million litres. Sales of auto diesel accounted for 34 per cent of the total sales of petroleum products. Sales of motor gasoline ended at 139 million litres, a decrease of 9.3 per cent, or 15 million litres.

Deliveries of lighting kerosene and light heating oil decreased by 27 per cent and 22.9 per cent respectively. In January 2007, sales of these two products came to 71 million litres, compared with 55 million litres in January 2008.

There were 22 delivery days in January, the same as in January 2007.
