Index of orders in manufacturing (discontinued)Q3 2003

Statistics Norway has decided to stop the publication of the Index of orders in manufacturing from the first quarter of 2018. One reason for this was that the statistic previously was a part of Eurostat's regulation for short-term statistics, but this requirement was removed from the regulation in 2012. However, indicators for new orders and stock of orders are available in Business tendency survey for manufacturing, mining and quarrying.

Decline in orders

New orders received and total stocks continued to fall in the third quarter of 2003. Less demand in the domestic market is the main reason.

New orders received and unfilled orders. Unadjusted. 1995=100.

A decline was recorded for both new orders received and total stocks in the third quarter of 2003, 4 and 6 per cent respectively compared with the second quarter of 2003. The decline is relatively extensive and it is especially the domestic market that fails. The industries Manufacture of Fabricated Metal Products, Transport Equipment and Oil Platforms were the main contributors to this development
