Index of orders in manufacturing (discontinued)Q1 2002

Statistics Norway has decided to stop the publication of the Index of orders in manufacturing from the first quarter of 2018. One reason for this was that the statistic previously was a part of Eurostat's regulation for short-term statistics, but this requirement was removed from the regulation in 2012. However, indicators for new orders and stock of orders are available in Business tendency survey for manufacturing, mining and quarrying.

No change in new orders

The order-based industry reports that new orders received continued to show stable development throughout the first quarter of 2002. The downturn in total stock of orders seems to be levelling out.

New orders received and unfilled orders. Unadjusted. 1995=100

New orders remained more or less unchanged throughout the first quarter of 2002. Recorded numbers show that total demands from export markets reached the lowest level since the second quarter of 1999, but this decline shows signs of levelling out. The positive development in the home market is mainly due to a major project within the industry Oil Platforms and Modules. Total stock of orders remained fairly stable throughout the first quarter of 2002, but was 5 per cent lower than in the corresponding quarter of 2001.
