Record high exploration estimates

Investments in exploration are now estimated at NOK 13.4 billion for 2006.This is an increase of NOK 0.3 billion compared with the previous survey made in the 2nd quarter of 2006. Investments in exploration activities in 2007 are now estimated at NOK 19.6 billion.

These two estimates are the highest exploration estimates given, measured in current prices, since Statistics Norway started collecting estimates in 1985.

Lower estimates for 2006

Total investments in oil and gas extraction and pipeline transport for 2006 are now estimated at NOK 99.5 billion. This is NOK 2.8 billion lower than the estimate conducted in the survey last quarter, but an increase of NOK 10.9 billion compared with the corresponding estimate given for 2005. The increase for 2006 is due to higher investments in exploration, field development and fields on stream while the estimates indicate a decrease in onshore activity and pipeline transportation.

Exploration activities in 2006 are now estimated at NOK 13.4 billion. Compared with the corresponding estimate given for 2005, the estimate for 2006 is 5.6 billion higher.

Investments in field development and fields on stream are now estimated at NOK 62.6 billion. This is a NOK 2.2 billion decrease compared with estimates given in the previous quarter.

Onshore activity and pipeline transportation are estimated at NOK 17.9 and 5.7 billion respectively.

Higher estimates for 2007

Total investments in oil and gas activities for 2007, including pipeline transportation, are estimated at NOK 88.5 billion. The estimate is NOK 10.3 billion higher than the corresponding estimate for 2006 and NOK 20.2 billion higher than the estimate given in the previous quarter.

Investments for exploration activity in 2007 are estimated at NOK 19.6 billion. The estimate is NOK 10.1 billion higher than the corresponding estimate for 2006, given in the 3 r d quarter of 2005.

Investments for field development and fields on stream are now estimated at NOK 58.4 billion.

This is NOK 5.5 billion higher than the estimate given in the previous quarter.

Onshore activities and pipeline transportation are estimated at NOK 8.2 and 2.3 billion respectively.
