Slight increase in total stocks

The order-based industry experienced a slight increase in total stocks throughout the second quarter of 2002. This development was mainly due to a substantial rise in stocks of unfinished goods within the industry Oil Platforms and Modules.

Stock volume. Changes in one year

Recorded figures for the second quarter of 2002 show only minor changes in the overall picture. Total stocks were up 5 per cent - measured in current prices - compared with the corresponding quarter of 2001. In fixed prices this amounts to a rise of 8 percent. The difference among industries continued to be substantial. Basic Metals and Transport Equipment experienced further decline in total stocks, while the opposite was the case within the industries Metal Products and Oil Platforms and Modules. High stocks of unfinished goods within the industry Oil Platforms and Modules had a significant impact on the total figures for the order-based industry.
