Growth in total stocks

Total stocks continued to rise throughout the 2nd quarter of 2001. This development has to be seen in conjunction with the growth in stocks of unfinished goods. Total stocks of finished goods remained on a relatively high level.

Stock volume. Changes in one year

The total stocks decreased by 10 per cent in the 2nd quarter of 2001 compared with the 2nd quarter of 2000, measured in current prices. This is in spite of an increase in total stocks throughout the 2nd quarter of 2001. Measured in fixed prices this amounts to a reduction of 8 per cent. The decline has to be seen in relation to a very high level of stocks of unfinished goods in the 2nd quarter last year. Total stocks of unfinished goods showed a steady growth for the second consecutive quarter, but were still significantly lower than 12 months before. Stocks of finished goods were more or less unchanged.
