The energy balance shows total supply and consumption of different energy products, by industry or user group. In 2014, the
energy consumption, excluding energy used in energy industries and as raw materials, rose by 3 per cent from the previous
year.

1Biofuels could not be certified sustainable in Norway due to a late transposition of Directive 2009/28/EC and are thus not taken into account in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 calculations and figures. The statistics is now published as Production and consumption of energy, energy balance and energy account.
Additional information
The statistics are published in spring and autumn. The spring publication is preliminary and aggregated to a larger degree, and only includes figures for energy balance. In the autumn publication, tables are also presented for the energy accounts.
