Higher electricity prices

The average price of electricity for households in the second quarter of 2013, excluding taxes and grid rent, was 34.6 øre per kWh. This is 33 per cent higher compared to the same quarter in 2012. Spot contracts were the cheapest contract type in the period, at an average cost of 34.2 øre per kWh.

The overall average price of electricity for households, including grid rent and taxes, amounted to 88.1 øre per kWh in the first quarter. This is 14 per cent higher compared to the same quarter in 2012. The grid rent and taxes came to 26.4 and 27.1 øre per kWh respectively.

Spot contracts cheaper

Households tied to spot price contracts paid 34.2 øre per kWh on average, excluding grid rent and taxes, in the first quarter of 2013. Sixty-seven per cent of the power sold to household consumers was sold through spot price contracts.

The price of variable price contracts amounted to 35.4 øre per kWh. New fixed-price contracts lasting one year or less and fixed-price contracts lasting one year or more totalled 35.6 and 35.5 øre per kWh respectively. Other fixed-price contracts amounted to 36.1 øre per kWh.

Higher electricity prices for the service industry and in manufacturing

The average price of electricity in the service industry in the third quarter was 34.0 øre per kWh, excluding taxes and grid rent. This is almost 34 per cent higher than the price one year ago.

 In manfacturing excluding energy-intensive manufacturing, the average price amounted to 32.8 øre per kWh. This is 32 per cent higher compared to the same period in 2012.

For energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electricity was 28.1 øre per kWh in the second quarter, excluding taxes and grid rent. This is a 21 per cent increase compared to the first quarter of 2012.
