Much higher electricity prices

The price of electric energy for households increased 47.1 per cent the first quarter this year compared with the first quarter last year. The average price of electric energy for households was 42.1 øre/kWh (NOK) this period, value added tax included. Total price for electric energy and grid rent taxes included increased by 12.9 øre/kWh to 84.3 øre/kWh.

For a household with 20000 kWh annual consumption, the price increase amount to NOK 2 600 yearly.

The average price of electric energy for the service industry was 33.7 øre/kWh, exclusive taxes and grid rent. This is 53.4 per cent higher than in the first quarter 2005.

For the manufacturing industry except energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electricity was 27.6 øre/kWh. For energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry the average price of electric energy was 12.9 øre/kWh excluding taxes and grid rent.

The measuring period for the first quarter 2006 was week number 6 (6 February - 12 February).
