Much higher electricity prices in 2003

The average price of electric energy for households was 31.8 øre/kWh in the fourth quarter last year, taxes and grid rent excluded. According to preliminary figures the average electricity price for the entire year 2003 for households was 41.4 øre/kWh. This is about twice as high as in 2002. The electricity price inclusive taxes and grid rent was 90 øre/kWh - 45.5 per cent higher than in 2002.

For households using 20 000 kWh a year total expenses for electricity increased from about 12 000 in 2002 to 18 000 in 2003.

The price of electric energy for services was 28.6 øre/kWh in the fourth quarter last year, taxes and grid rent excluded. This is 17.5 per cent higher than in the fourth quarter 2002. The average price for the entire year in 2003 was 31.1 øre/kWh for services - 60.7 per cent higher than in 2002.

For manufacturing, exclusive energy-intensive manufacturing and pulp and paper industry, the electricity price in the fourth quarter last year was 26 øre/kWh, taxes and grid rent excluded. The average price for the entire year 2003 was 26.3 øre/kWh for services. This is 32.8 per cent higher than in 2002.
