Manufacturing turnover increases further

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 2.1 per cent in the period September to November 2019, compared to the previous three-month period. On a monthly basis, from October to November 2019, the manufacturing turnover increased by 0.4 per cent.

The index value for turnover in manufacturing was 163.2 (2005=100) in the period September to November 2019 compared to 159.8 in the previous three-month period, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

Three-month change: refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals contributes to the growth

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 2.1 per cent in the period September to November of 2019 compared to the previous three-month period. The largest contribution to the increase in Norwegian manufacturing came from the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals which saw a increase of 7.2 per cent in the period. Other industries that contributed was non-ferrous metals and building of ships and oil platforms.

Monthly change: slightly increase in manufacturing turnover in November

Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover increased by 0.4 per cent from October to November 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

The industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals contributed the most to the growth in Norwegian manufacturing turnover, with an increase of 4.6 per cent in the period.

Other industries that also contributed positively were:

  • Building of ships and oil platforms
  • Machinery and equipment

On the other hand, machinery and equipment, with a decrease of 6.4 per cent, contributed the most to curb the positive development in total manufacturing turnover.

Monthly change: increase in turnover in manufacturing in the euro area in October 2019

Manufacturing turnover in the euro area increased by 0.4 per cent from September to October 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing also increased by 0.4 per cent in the same period. In the other Scandinavian countries, the turnover in Denmark and Sweden decreased by 1.5 and 0.7 per cent respectively, according to Eurostat.
