Small growth within construction in 2010

The local kind-of-activity units in the construction industry had a turnover of NOK 316 billion in 2010. This is an increase of 1.7 per cent compared to 2010, after a large decline from 2008 to 2009.

The local kind-of-activity-units operating within construction of buildings had a total turnover of NOK 143 billion in 2010. This is an increase of 5 per cent compared to 2009. A total of 66 337 persons were employed, which is an increase of 0.6 per cent compared to 2009.

Specialised construction activities

The turnover within this division had a total turnover of NOK 139 billion; approximately the same as in 2009. The division employed 111 792 persons; an increase of 0.8 per cent. The number of persons employed accounts for 58 per cent of the total employment in the construction industry.

Civil engineering

The total turnover was NOK 34 billion in 2010, which is a decrease of 2.3 per cent compared to 2009. The employment increased by 1 per cent, to a total of 15 058 persons.

At enterprise level, the turnover increased by 1.4 per cent to NOK 313 billion within the construction industry.

The structural business statistics for construction are compiled at a local KAU level and enterprise level. The figures at enterprise level may differ from figures at local KAU level. This is due to some enterprises being registered in one industry group according to main activity, whilst having local KAUs in other groups.
