Decline in holiday home sales

In the second quarter of 2008 the number of transfers of holiday homes was 9 per cent lower than in the corresponding quarter last year, but the average price has risen. The number of transferred dwelling properties with building is more or less on the same level as a year ago.

The aggregated value of transferred properties during the second quarter of 2008 amounted to NOK 67.4 billion, an increase of 7 per cent compared with the second quarter of 2007. A total of 44 400 transfers of real property were registered, a slight increase compared with the same quarter last year.

Fewer holiday homes transferred, but higher prices

The sales of holiday homes on the free market amounted to 2 100 in the second quarter, a decrease of 9 per cent from the corresponding period last year. The average price per transfer was NOK 1.4 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 10 per cent. The counties of Vestfold and Vest-Agder had the highest average prices per transfer with NOK 2.8 million and NOK 1.9 million respectively. Transfers of holiday homes on leased sites are not included in these figures.

Dwelling transfers on the same level

A total of 19 500 dwelling properties with buildings were sold on the free market in the second quarter. This is more or less on level with the figures from the second quarter of 2007. The average price per transfer was NOK 2.4 million, an increase of 4 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter last year. Compared with the first quarter of 2007, the average price rose by less than 1 per cent. Oslo still has the highest average price per transfer with NOK 3.5 million.
