Holiday homes at increasing prices

In the second quarter of 2007 the number of property transfers increased by 2 000 compared with the corresponding quarter last year. The aggregated value of transferred properties increased by NOK 9.7 billion. The price per transfer of holiday homes has never been higher.

The value of transferred properties during the second quarter of 2007 amounted to NOK 62.7 billion, an increase of 18 per cent compared with the second quarter of 2006. The highest increase was recorded in Sogn og Fjordane and Sør-Trøndelag, with 59 and 50 per cent respectively. There was an increase in all counties except Oslo.

44 200 transfers of real property were registered in the second quarter of 2007, an increase of 5 per cent compared with the same quarter last year.

Higher value of holiday homes

A total of 2 400 holiday homes were sold on the free market in the second quarter, an increase of 15 per cent from the corresponding period last year. The average price per transfer was NOK 1.2 million, representing a 13 per cent increase compared with the second quarter of 2006.

Whereas almost 40 per cent of the holiday homes had a transfer price above NOK 1 million, a corresponding share cost less than NOK 400 000. Vestfold had the highest average price with NOK 3.5 million. Transfers of leases are not included in these figures.

Higher price per dwelling transfer

A total of 17 700 dwelling properties with buildings were sold on the free market in the second quarter. This is more or less on level with the second quarter of 2006. The average price per transfer was NOK 2.3 million, an increase of 17 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter last year. Compared with the first quarter of 2007, the average price rose by 6 per cent. Oslo still has the highest average price per transfer with NOK 3.5 million.
