Marked increase for holiday properties

In the first quarter of 2006 the number of property transfers increased by 5 000 compared with the corresponding quarter last year. While the transfer of dwelling properties increased by 8 per cent, the transfer of holiday properties rose by 23 per cent.

Registered transfers of real property, 1999-2006*. First quarter

In total, 40 000 transfers of real property were registered in the first quarter of 2006, an increase of 14 per cent compared with the same quarter last year. Transfers increased in all counties.

The value of the transferred properties amounted to NOK 49.1 billion, an 18 per cent increase compared with the first quarter last year.

Holiday properties increased most

Transfer of most types of property increased in the first quarter compared with the corresponding quarter in 2005. However, the transfer of holiday properties increased by 23 per cent, while transfer of dwelling properties ended up by 8 per cent.

The sales of holiday homes amounted to 1800 in the first quarter. Compared with first quarter last year an increase of 30 per cent. For such properties the average price was NOK 890 000, an increase of 9 per cent compared with the same period last year. Half of the holiday homes had a transfer price below NOK 400 000, while 30 per cent of them exceeded NOK 1 million.

Higher prices per dwelling transfer

In total, 15 200 dwelling properties with building were sold on the free market in the first quarter. The average price for such properties was NOK 1.9 million, an increase of 11 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter last year.
