Decline in property sales

In the first quarter of 2005 the number of property transfers decreased by 1 500 compared with the corresponding quarter last year.

Registered transfers of real property, 2000-2005*. First quarter

In total, 34 900 transfers of real property were recorded in the first quarter of 2005, a decrease of 4 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The value of the transferred properties amounted to NOK 41.5 billion, a 6 per cent increase compared with the first quarter of last year.

Strongest fall for dwelling properties

The transfer of almost all types of property decreased in the first quarter compared with the corresponding quarter in 2004. However, the transfer of dwelling properties had the strongest fall with 6 per cent.

Higher prices

In total, 13 300 dwelling properties with building were sold on the free market in the first quarter. The average price for such properties was NOK 1.7 million, an increase of 5 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter last year. The most expensive properties are still found in Oslo where the average price was NOK 2.6 million.

The sales of holiday properties amounted to 1 386 in the first quarter. For such properties the average price was NOK 871 000, an increase of 16 per cent compared with the same period last year.
